   7 The new Ubuntu Font Family was started to enable the personality of
   8 Ubuntu to be seen and felt in every menu, button and dialog.
   9 The typeface is sans-serif, uses OpenType features and is manually
  10 hinted for clarity on desktop and mobile computing screens.

  12 The scope of the Ubuntu Font Family includes all the languages used by
  13 the various Ubuntu users around the world in tune with Ubuntu's
  14 philosophy which states that every user should be able to use their
  15 software in the language of their choice. So the Ubuntu Font Family
  16 project will be extended to cover many more written languages.

  22 September 2011 coverage is provided for Latin, Cyrillic and Greek across
  23 Regular, Italic, Bold and Bold-Italic.
